Italy
Supporting the Global Mission
Not For Sale’s presence in Italy has been through supporter engagement and partnerships. Italy is a major destination country for trafficking in Europe, with forced labor in agriculture (particularly tomato and fruit harvesting in the south), domestic work, and construction. Sex trafficking networks operate across the country, with many victims originating from Nigeria and Eastern Europe.
Not For Sale’s global work is supported in part by Italian partners. As a major EU consumer economy, Italy’s supply chains connect directly to the regions where Not For Sale operates, including the DRC (minerals), Cameroon (cocoa), and Senegal (fisheries). The survivor training model pioneered by Dignita in the Netherlands is the closest geographic parallel to what’s possible across Southern Europe.
