Garment Worker Programme (Past Program)
Not For Sale’s social innovation work in Cambodia tested supply-chain transparency in the country’s garment sector, an early step in developing the Free2Work methodology that informed later work in El Salvador and beyond.
What We Found
Cambodia’s garment factories supply global fashion brands and employ hundreds of thousands of workers, many of them young women from rural provinces with limited economic options. Migration, factory dormitories, and recruitment debt create conditions where workers are vulnerable to exploitation and where it is difficult to leave even when conditions deteriorate. The formal programme has since concluded.
