One Tree Matters
In tropical Queensland, the forest is no longer one forest. Decades of land clearing have fragmented it into disconnected patches, and species that depend on long stretches of unbroken canopy, like the Southern Cassowary, the Mahogany Glider, and the Ulysses Butterfly, have been left stranded in pockets too small to sustain them. Protecting what remains is necessary, but it isn't enough on its own.
One Tree Matters plants native trees to reconnect the habitat. The work focuses on degraded and unused land that sits between existing forest patches, knitting the fragments back into a network where endangered fauna can move, breed, and feed across a real range again. Community Forest Builders gather to plant on the first Saturday of every month, so the work also rebuilds something else: the human relationships that make long-term stewardship possible.
Not For Sale supports One Tree Matters because the same principle holds at every scale. What survives in isolation eventually doesn't survive at all. Connecting fragmented habitats and connecting the people who care for them are two halves of the same project, and both are how a place keeps its character through whatever the next decades bring.

At this site we have used three different types of planting.. Firstly we augured holes to plant out the border, then we had a tractor rip lines, (you can see them in the photo). And lastly we have planted two Miyawakis. The wet season has been amazing this year, we can't wait to watch this forest grow.

A spectacular evergreen flowering tree, that grows 5-8M tall, is endemic to North QLD. Breathtaking bright yellow floral display in dry season, even when small. It is very attractive to birds & bees.

We recently stumbled across an Australian Scrub Python having a sleep in one of our revegetation sites. This snake is commonly considered arboreal or tree-dwelling, making it one of the world's largest and longest arboreal species of snakes.

Spectacled Flying-foxes are forest dwellers and rainforests are their preferred habitat. They prefer to roost in the middle and upper canopy strata in the full sun. Colonies of the Spectacled Flying-fox can be found in rain forests, mangroves, and paperbark and eucalypt forests.

We planted this quarter's trees and then the rain watered them all in with over 100mm. Thank you citizens for supporting our Monash Street project at El Arish. Keep on planting World Forest Builders. One Tree Matters. Tree Nation.

We had 17 volunteers attend and planted over 400 trees. We are planting trees for the Spectacled Flying-fox and the Southern Cassowary, both of which are endangered species in our region. #Keep on planting World Forest Builders. #One Tree Matters.
