At age 27, Thanh led a life with good friends, a decent salary, and every reason to think she would soon be married and starting her own family… Until just over a month ago. Read Thanh’s story.
Blue Dragon kids are street kids, children with disabilities, children from rural families living in extreme poverty, and victims of human trafficking and slavery. A few months ago, Mariana Petersel, director of Not For Sale Romania, rescued 3 young children sold into slavery by their desperately poor parents. Mariana has been fighting trafficking in Europe for the past 3 decades. Today and every day, we celebrate Mariana and all of the hard work she does to keep the world Not For Sale.
NFS Romania strives to care for the 10,000 child refugees in Europe, protecting and providing for them a place of peace. Romania Not For Sale rehabilitates and repatriates survivors trafficked from dozens of countries. We provide short and long-term housing, extensive medical care and counseling. Thailand is where Not For Sale began. Here’s a quick video of our Thailand project, led by Kru Nam. Not For Sale Thailand constructed and expanded a children’s home, which offers shelter and long-term housing for youth rescued from exploitation. We provide the children safety, stability, nutritious meals and medical care.

‘Hieu’ went to China together with many other people in her village to work in a plastic factory. All was well for 3 months. That is, until a group of gangsters forcibly grabbed her from her dormitory. They sold her immediately to a brothel. Hieu was beaten when she did not have more than 20 customers a day. She was desperate to escape and managed to borrow the phone of a customer to contact her brother. That was when our team was alerted to her case. It took the rescue team 2 months to find her, and to figure out a way to help her escape. She is young and pretty, and was guarded by 2 men at all times. It was an escape engineered in split seconds. She was overwhelmed and sobbed for a long time in the getaway car. She could only utter three words: ‘I am safe’. There is not a day that goes by that we don’t feel grateful for our deep partnership with Blue Dragon in Vietnam.
