Boll & Branch is a luxury bedding and home goods company founded by Scott and Missy Tannen with a simple premise: premium products, transparently sourced, with Fair Trade practices built in from the start. In its early days, Boll & Branch partnered with Not For Sale to ensure its supply chain upheld the highest ethical standards, and for over five years, the company contributed $25,000 annually to support Not For Sale’s global anti-trafficking programs.
The Connection
Boll & Branch’s partnership with Not For Sale was not a bolt-on CSR initiative. It was foundational. The company partnered with Not For Sale during its startup years precisely because it wanted its supply chain to be built right from the beginning, not cleaned up after the fact. Boll & Branch works directly with farming communities in India, where much of its organic cotton is grown and its products are manufactured, maintaining Fair Trade certification and transparent labor practices throughout.
For Not For Sale, the partnership demonstrated something important: that a for-profit company could treat ethical sourcing not as a cost center but as a competitive advantage. Boll & Branch proved that consumers would pay a premium for products they could trust, and that the trust was worth building.
Status
The active financial partnership has evolved, but the values that brought the two organizations together remain central to Boll & Branch’s business. Not For Sale is proud to have been part of their journey and continues to recognize the work Scott, Missy, and their team are doing through their brand.
